Sea Island Study I

On a cold and foggy December trip to Hunting Island, South Carolina I found this maritime forest and saltwater marsh void of color and life. I became enchanted with the twisted palms and pines high above the many eroded trees lying interspersed in the sand. The potential for limited color appealed to me here, thus this depiction of soft gold and orange tones rendered in charcoal and pastel.
