August was the first time I visited Saluda Shoals Park. I walked the nature trail till I came upon this wide expanse of the Saluda River. My initial thought was to paint this view the way I saw it then, in the lush, rich greens of summer. However, when I returned two months later, I realized that the variation of color from the early fall foliage served as a more appealing backdrop for this painting.
